British Holidaymakers’ Top 10 Travelling Essentials

(Press Release) A recent survey undertaken by holidaylettings.co.uk™ to find holidaymakers’ top 10 travelling essentials has revealed that the UK is a nation of holiday hoarders when it comes to travelling.

Holidaymakers have been exposed for the excessive assortment of possessions considered as essential travelling items.

The survey completed by over 9,500 holidaymakers revealed suitcases are packed with an array of worldly possessions that are considered daily must-haves such as soft toilet paper, feather pillows, a garlic crusher, cheese knife, pepper mill, kettle and digital radio. These “travelling essentials” are being hauled overseas and across the UK.

On a more serious note, books, sunscreen, hair straighteners, iPods, money and sunglasses are among the items that topped the poll.

More and more holidaymakers are opting for increasingly popular self-catering holidays and making the most of the freedom a holiday home provides.

This year alone more than 750,000 holidaymakers have enquired about a self-catering villa, cottage, apartment or gite for their annual summer break in the sun.

Ross Elder, managing director of holidaylettings.co.uk, says: “Despite self-catering holiday homes being well-equipped with everything required for a relaxing holiday, it appears that Britons cannot help but take some of their own items along, just in case.”
