General Dynamics Awarded Funds To Upgrade Its Services

General Dynamics Advanced Information System, a business unit of General Dynamics has been awarded an additional fund of $11.5 million to an earlier awarded improvement contract.

The funds will help the company improve its engineering and nominal services for the AN/BYG-1 weapons control system for SSN21-, Virginia- and SSN688/688I-class submarines.

The contract modification is basically the second-year option of the multi-year awarded contract in 2009.

The AN/BYG-1 deals with the tactical weapon control and network subsystems on U.S. Navy and Royal Australian Navy submarines.

The General Dynamics-developed weapons control system features an open-business and an open-architecture philosophy to facilitate its system services.

Major work of the contract will be carried out in Pittsfield, Mass.; Fairfax, Va.; and Middletown, R.I.
